Tomatoes and Garlic
Welcome to The Rancher’s Daughter
Home. Nothing is as sweet as home.
Gardening, cooking, great recipes. Welcome to rural Alabama, deep south heat and southern hospitality. Our token nectar is Sweet Iced Tea or a tall glass of lemonade on a hot day. Our place is nestled in southeastern Alabama on several wooded acres. We have lots of lizards, and unfortunately snakes too. Our place is heavily populated with squirrels, a wonderful bird population, and my wonderful rescue Wonder Dog named Mickey. We also have a very loving black pug named Clarence.
We hope you will visit us often and try some of our wonderful recipes. We do love our beans and cornbread, but there are also a lot of other tasty treats being prepared in my kitchen just about every day of the week.
The rancher’s daughter loves to cook. On our website, you’ll find articles on: gardening, composting, vegetable gardening, cooking, herb gardening, container gardening, cooking with garden vegetables, growing potatoes, growing tomatoes. We also love our dogs and we talk about dogs too, and other general interest articles we like to share.
This week we offered up the Homegrown Tomato Sandwich, yes it is getting that time again where I am eagerly watching my little green tomatoes on the vines and I think of the abundant tomato crop soon to come!
We have had a lot of rain here this week and last, that made it cool here, which made me want to cook Red Beans and Rice with garlic cheese bread and Pea and Pepper Layered Salad.
We have a mayonnaise poll going on and need your comments. Seems Kraft changed their recipe, so we are exploring new mayo brands and would love to know what you think.
The Rancher’s Daughter wants you to experience our warm southern hospitality. I love to cook. I love to garden. I love to experiment with different gardening techniques, and I will plant a vegetable anywhere. Literally.
Recipes to come this week include: creole stuffed peppers, fresh cooked corn, chicken noodle casserole, corn bread fritters, the best egg sandwich, the hot link sausage sandwich, homemade mayonnaise, turnip greens and cornbread, and southern pecan pie.
Come on in, get barefoot, soak your feet in our pool and enjoy Southern Country Comfort.
